Who runs it
Ben Thalmann founded FiledToday and wrote the software behind it. It reads the Florida Division of Corporations' daily filing file, sorts each new business into a county and an industry, and looks up the owner's phone number in public sources. He has run it every business day since April 2026.
He also publishes the free weekly counts on this site: a page for every county and a weekly report for the state. Anyone can cite them with a link. Questions about the numbers come straight to him at hello@filedtoday.com.
Why FiledToday exists
Every work day, Florida adds a few thousand new corporations and LLCs to its records and publishes them in a public data file. For anyone who sells to new businesses, that file is the best early signal there is. It is also hard to use: fixed-width text, no county column, no industry, and no contact details.
FiledToday does the unglamorous part. We read the daily file, sort filings into Florida's 67 counties, remove holding companies and filing services, and research the owner's phone number. Then we send each customer the list for their county.
How the data works
The filings come from the Florida Division of Corporations. Phone numbers, emails, and websites come from other public sources, including business websites, license records, professional profiles, and people-search databases. We only deliver leads where we found a phone number, and we leave other fields blank rather than guess. The full process is on the methodology page.
We also publish free aggregate data: the Florida new business report and a page for every county, updated weekly.
What we will not claim
- That a new business asked to hear from you. They filed paperwork; they did not request a quote.
- That your county is exclusive to you.
- A fixed number of leads per day. Volume depends on how many businesses register.
